AC/heat pumps
CENTRAL AIR & DUCTLESS OPTIONS
With both central and ductless options, anyone can have comfortable cooling throughout their house!

WHAT WE OFFER
We currently offer air conditioning and heat pumps through both our central air (forced through ductwork) and ductless models. Both styles offer efficient cooling for those hot summer days, with SEER2 efficiency ratings ranging from 13 all the way up to 26! In addition to cooling, our air sourced heat pumps also operate in the reverse, providing the option of heating in colder temperatures. Some of our heat pumps are considering "cold climate" and can operate down as low -25C!
CENTRAL AC & HEAT PUMPS
Like their furnaces, Lennox offers central air conditioners and heat pumps from their Signature, Elite, and Merit series. Each style offers their own distinctive features. Our new units use the new R454B A2L refrigerant that is becoming the new standard and more environmentally friendly. We still have one Merit AC unit available that uses R410A refrigerant.

MERIT SERIES
Lennox’s Merit Series is their introductory product line, but do not let that deter you! Even Lennox’s entry level models provide efficient and consistent cooling to fit your needs. The Merit series units are available in single stage and two stage cooling capacities, with efficiency ratings of 13 SEER2 and up to 18 SEER. Made with Lennox’s PermaGuard cabinet – heavy-gauge galvanized steel – these units are protected against rust and corrosion. With product registration, these units are covered by a 10-year parts and compressor warranty. Merit keeps you efficiently comfortable.

SIGNATURE SERIES
The Dave Lennox Signature Series is one of the most advanced lines of equipment in the market, and their ACs and heat pumps are no exception. Made with the exclusive Lennox Quantum coil – an aluminum alloy construction – this series is made to resist corrosion even in the harshest conditions. With the precision variable-capacity and two-stage compressors, the Signature ACs and heat pumps can be set to run at different stages/power. Pair this with the Signature’s superior SEER efficiency ratings of 21 to 26 SEER2 and you will be saving big in electricity costs. Signature keeps you in perfect comfort.
AC (VARIABLE SPEED): SL25kCV (26 SEER2)
Heat Pump (VARIABLE SPEED, cold climate): SL22klV (21.1 SEER2)

DUCTLESS HEAT PUMPS
If you do not have a forced air furnace and ductwork installed in your home, don’t you worry! We have an incredible option for you! Lennox offers ductless heat pumps that provide both cooling and electric heating. These units are also known as mini-splits and consist of an outdoor condenser and an indoor evaporator - most commonly a "head". Lennox's newest line is in collaboration with Samsung and uses the new R32 A2L refrigerant that is more environmentally friendly. Lennox no longer makes mini-splits that are AC only since they are comparable in price to the heat pump but have the added benefit of heating.

INDOOR AIR HANDLER

OUTDOOR CONDENSER
Lennox offers a few different styles of mini-split heat pumps ranging an impressive 19 to 23 SEER2. The indoor evaporators have a sleek and modern design and are whisper quiet. All Lennox mini-split systems have variable-speed compressors, meaning the heat pumps run at low capacity most of the time, only using the amount of energy necessary. They are also available in multi-zone or single zone models, as well as cold-climate varieties. Multi-zone means they can pair with a variety of indoor evaporators, supporting up to 4 zones to create a personalized heating and cooling solution for your needs. The cold-climate units can provide heating in temps as low at -30C!
SINGLE ZONE (COLD CLIMATE): MWLD (20 SEER2)
SINGLE ZONE (STANDARD TEMP): MWPD (20 SEER2) | MWHD (20 SEER2)
MULTI ZONE (cold climate): mmld (23.0 SEER)
multi zone (standard temp): mmpd (22.5 SEER)
KEY CONSIDERATIONS
ac VS. HEAT PUMP
Air conditioners operate by extracting thermal energy from inside the home and rejecting it outside. Air sourced heat pumps also do the reverse. They can draw thermal energy from the outside air and transfer it into the home, even at cooler temperatures.
Standard air sourced heat pumps (ASHP) are effective in temperatures down to about –5C to -10C, however cold climate air sourced heat pumps (ccASHP) can operate as low as -30C. With these new ccASHPs, you can efficiently heat your house for the majority of the winter. This can be a huge savings for those living rural areas relying on more expensive propane or oil for heating.
A big consideration in choosing an AC vs. heat pump may be the cost as the difference in price could be in the thousands. There are currently incentives through the Home Renovation Savings Program providing rebates for heat pump installations (see further down). If you are interested, please let us know and we will gladly provide a price for both options.
efficiency
The standardized measurement for efficiency across electrical cooling appliances is called the Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio (SEER). This ratio is the total cooling output over a typical cooling season divided by the total electrical energy input during the same time period. Overall, it tells you how much comfort you are getting in relation to how much money you are spending on electricity. The higher the SEER, the more efficient and cost effective the unit is to operate. This rating is the maximum efficiency available, but like the litres per 100 kilometers reading on your vehicle, many variables can affect that efficiency.
13 SEER2 is the standard minimum for air conditioners. Lennox offers those, and all the way up to 26 SEER2 with their SL25KCV model – the absolute most efficient unit in the industry. Lennox is constantly improving their technologies and raising the bar for what HVAC can be!
single stage v. two stage v. variable

Single Stage means that as soon as the thermostat senses the temperature is starting to change, the unit will kick on at full power/speed to meet your preset home comfort needs.
Two Stage operates at two different speeds. The majority of the time, the unit will operate at a lower/mid speed to maintain the temperature in your home, ultimately saving you money in gas and electricity. It also means it is very quiet.
Variable Speed units operate at any speed necessary (not just one or two stages), offering balanced and comfortable air that is consistently maintained. Most of the time, the unit will operate at a lower speed, saving you the most money in utility costs. These units can also better help with dehumidification.
REBATES
There are currently rebates available to those looking to install cold climate heat pumps. The Home Renovation Savings program is available in Ontario and North Star Plumbing and Heating is on the approved contractor list. The rebate does not require an energy assessment like many previous rebate programs did, meaning the process is much quicker and smoother.

Enbridge customers who heat primarily with natural gas are eligible for up to $500/ton of capacity, while those who primarily heat with electric, propane, wood, or oil are eligible for up to $1250/ton of capacity. Most homes in our area require a 2 or 3ton heat pump. This means if you heat primarily with propane, you can see up to $2500-$3750 back!
